The company was founded in 1989 on the initiative of snowboarder Ken Block. While studying Computer Design at Community College, Ken met his future business associate Damon Way there. In time, Damon's brother Danny joined the two. Collaboration with Danny Way resulted in the production of technical designs of skateboard shoes. From the very beginning, DC has supported skateboarders and snowboarders, although it has long been not only a "skate" brand - the company also offers its products for fans of other extreme sports, such as motorbike, snowboarding or BMX bikes. Among others, DC Shoes sponsor Chris Cole, Danny Way and Rob Dyrdek.
